About Me
There are things you begin that blossom into something more than you could have ever imagined. The summer I was seven years old, my parents put me in swim lessons. I agreed that swimming was an important skill to know, if only to be able to tread water and paddle my way out of a possibly scary situation. The kind woman teaching me how to swim suggested I explore competitive swimming, since I was naturally comfortable in the water and quickly caught on to the strokes. That sparked a swimming career for the next decade and then some.
Along the journey, in unexpected ways, I picked up new competitive endeavors. When I met my now-husband in college, he helped me improve my running, having played competitive soccer for as long as I had swam. I started lifting weights as an element of cross training and injury prevention before my husband and I tried our hand at obstacle course racing. (Yes, the kind of races where you crawl through the mud and carry heavy things.)

Even though I picked up new activities I enjoyed, I always thought of myself as a swimmer. A swimmer who could also run. A swimmer who lifted weights. I decided to start challenging my beliefs around what I thought I could achieve. As a “non-runner“, running a 5K race felt like a complete feat. So I decided to make my goal running a 5K. It felt impossible before I started, a monumental challenge I wasn’t sure I could conquer. Once I crossed my first finish line (winning my age group no less!), I was elated!
Little did I know at the time, the mindset I used to train for and complete my first 5K would be what I leveraged to pursue some of my biggest athletic accomplishments. Crossing unfathomable finish lines in running then lead me to triathlon. Why race one sport when you can race three? 😂
I can proudly say I have competed in the four main triathlon distances, including three half Ironman races and one full-distance Ironman.
Gaining all this fitness also allowed me to explore other fun adventures and activities such as hiking, kayaking, playing racquet sports (tennis, pickle ball, squash), and occasionally rock-climbing.
I am a former personal trainer, exploring ways to get people excited and engaged in embracing what fitness can do for them. I also love being outside in nature and will take every opportunity I get to be outside and active!
I’m excited you’re here! I’d love to learn more about what you’re working toward!
